Our Conductor
Thomas Leech, our Musical Director since 2009, enjoys a growing reputation as a dynamic and passionate advocate of choral singing. He combines his role at Sheffield Chorale with the posts of Choral Director for the Diocese of Leeds and Musical Director of Bradford Festival Choral Society, together with a busy schedule as a freelance organist.
Tom graduated from Cambridge University in 2001, where he held the organ scholarship at Downing College, and subsequently held posts at Norwich and Ripon Cathedrals. His playing has been broadcast on BBC1, Radio 2, Radio 3 and Classic FM, he has made a number of recordings and given recitals at venues across the UK, including Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral and King’s College, Cambridge.
His work as a choral conductor has taken him across Europe and the United States, and has ranged from ‘grass-roots’ singing with children to directing some of the great masterpieces of classical music.
